Our Rooms

Curiosity, growth, and learning

With 3 nurturing rooms and 2 spacious outdoor play areas, our environment is purposefully designed to support the curiosity, growth, and learning of children aged 5 months to 5 years. Each space has been carefully thought out and designed to cater to the exact needs of the tamariki using it, to ensure they feel comfortable, safe and nurtured during their time with us.

Through a broad range of individual and group experiences and a play-based curriculum, our tamariki develop learning dispositions such as curiosity, wonder and perseverance.

Koru Room (5 months – 2 years)

Our Koru Room provides a calm, nurturing, and secure environment where our youngest children feel a strong sense of belonging. We value age-appropriate learning that supports infants and toddlers to develop trust, attachment, and confidence at their own pace. Our programme is thoughtfully planned around each child’s interests, routines, and developmental needs, allowing learning to unfold naturally through responsive care, sensory exploration, and meaningful interactions. Our professional and caring teachers build strong relationships with children and whānau, ensuring every child feels safe, respected, and supported in their earliest learning journey.

Rata Room (2 – 3.5 years)

The Rata Room is a vibrant and engaging learning space designed to support toddlers as they grow in independence, communication, and social understanding. We value learning that is developmentally appropriate and responsive, with our programme planning guided by children’s emerging interests, strengths, and curiosities. Through purposeful play experiences, children are encouraged to explore, problem-solve, and build relationships with others. Our qualified and professional teachers provide consistent guidance and encouragement, creating a positive learning environment where children feel confident to try new things and express themselves.

Pōhutukawa Room (3.5 – 5 years)

Our Pōhutukawa Room offers a rich and inspiring learning environment that supports older children to develop confidence, leadership, and a strong sense of self as capable learners. We place great importance on age-appropriate learning and intentional teaching that extends children’s thinking, creativity, and readiness for school. Our programme is carefully planned based on children’s interests, ideas, and learning goals, allowing them to take an active role in their learning. Our professional teaching team fosters independence, collaboration, and resilience, supporting children to become curious, confident, and lifelong learners.

A sense of belonging

At Glamorgan ELC, we value the principles of tuakana–teina and the rich learning that happens when children spend time together, especially siblings and whānau members.

Although our three rooms operate separately, children still enjoy frequent opportunities to connect — whether playing together in the playground, greeting each other through windows and fences, or simply sharing familiar spaces. These natural interactions help children learn from one another, develop confidence and leadership, and feel a sense of belonging across the centre. They also support smooth transitions as children grow and move into the next room, ensuring continuity, comfort, and strong relationships throughout their learning journey.
